In an eagerly awaited update, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly agreed to the rescheduling of the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan clash in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) had approached the PCB with a proposal to alter the dates of two of their group matches, including the high-voltage clash between the arch-rivals.
Originally slated to take place on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the match had to be rescheduled due to security concerns arising from the commencement of Navratri, a major festival celebrated in Ahmedabad.
As per the latest report from PTI, Pakistan will now face India on October 14 in Ahmedabad, with the match being expected to garner massive interest from cricket enthusiasts around the world. The alteration in the schedule also sees Pakistan taking on Sri Lanka on October 10 in Hyderabad instead of October 12, thereby creating a crucial three-day gap before their face-off against India.
BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, had earlier stated that the schedule would be revised only to address concerns over the gap between matches for some teams. He mentioned that the logistics team of both BCCI and ICC are diligently working on resolving the issues, ensuring there will be no change in the venues for any of the matches.
The updated schedule, which will include the revised dates for the India-Pakistan clash, is expected to be released soon by the ICC. Additionally, a few other games involving different teams may also be rescheduled to better accommodate the teams’ match gaps.
